FACEIT ping test: find your best server before you queue

FACEIT lets you choose which server locations you’re willing to play on, and you have to pick at least four. Most players tick whatever looks close on a map. A ping test tells you what’s actually fast from your connection.

Why geography lies

Your connection doesn’t travel in a straight line. Depending on your provider’s routing, a server that looks farther away can be faster than the one next door. For example, from parts of Eastern Europe, Germany is often faster than the Netherlands, even though both look “close”.

How to test your ping to FACEIT servers

The manual way: run ping tests to data centres in each country and compare the round-trip times. It works, but it’s slow and you have to repeat it whenever your connection changes.

The fast way: Prefire shows live ping on every server tile in FACEIT’s own server picker, with signal bars:

Green (35 ms or less): excellent, pick these first.
Yellow (36–70 ms): playable.
Red (more than 70 ms): avoid if you have enough better options.

The numbers appear the instant you open the server tab, and they refresh in the background.

Picking your four servers

Sort by ping and take the lowest four.
If two are close, prefer the one with more players. Your queue will be faster.
Re-check after changing networks, ISPs or VPN settings.

How to fix high ping on FACEIT

Use a cable. Wi-Fi adds jitter even when the ping number looks fine.
Close background downloads: game launchers, cloud sync, streaming in another tab.
Turn off a VPN, unless it genuinely routes you better.
Restart your router if ping is suddenly higher than usual everywhere.
Check the server, not just yourself. If only one location spikes, untick it for the night.

Why ping matters for win rate

At 30 ms, you see and shoot a peeking enemy noticeably earlier than at 80 ms. Across a whole match, that’s several duels that go your way instead of theirs.
